Yorkshire Terriers

Yorkshire Terriers, fondly referred to as "Yorkies," are small in size but full of life. Their distinctive, glossy coats match their lively personalities, making them charming and elegant pets.

Characteristics of Yorkshire Terriers

  • Size: Small, typically weighing around 3 kilograms and standing 7-8 inches tall.

  • Coat: Long, silky, and usually black and tan, blue and tan, or blue and gold.

  • Temperament: Yorkies are known for their tenacious, affectionate, and sometimes bossy nature. They are intelligent, brave, and very loyal to their families.

  • Lifespan: Around 11-15 years

  • Exercise Needs: Moderate. They relish their daily walks and playtime, yet they can also obtain adequate exercise indoors.

Ideal Family and Environment

Yorkies are excellent companions for adults, retirees, and families with older children. They can be fragile, so they are not always suitable for homes with very young children. They tend to bond closely with their owners and enjoy being the center of attention.

  • Living Space: They adapt well to various living environments, including apartments, due to their small size and moderate exercise needs. They are also well-suited for city living.

  • Activity Level: Yorkies enjoy moderate exercise, such as daily walks and playtime, but are also content to relax and cuddle with their owners.

  • Attention: They thrive on human companionship and do not like being left alone for long periods. They can suffer from separation anxiety if left alone too often.

  • Training: Yorkies are intelligent and can be trained easily with positive reinforcement methods. They can be a bit stubborn, so early training and socialization are important.

Yorkshire Terriers are excellent companions for families who can offer them love, attention, and a cozy living environment.
